MASTER BUILDERS ASSOCIATION MALAYSIA (MBAM) SETS UP MBAM HOTLINE TO HANDLE BUILDING MATERIALS RELATED COMPLAINTS & FEEDBACK TO BETTER SERVE THE CONSTRUCTION  INDUSTRY

Concerned about the serious rise in prices of building materials and shortage of essential building materials, Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) is initiating a move to gather accurate feedback from the industry by collaborating with Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to set up a construction industry hotline for the construction industry. 

The Association is dedicating a hotline which is accessible to members and the general public to handle calls and feedback pertaining to building materials related issues such as price increases, supply problems and shortages especially for steel bars and cement and other critical issues from MBAM members and the public. The said MBAM HOTLINE can be contacted during MBAM Secretariat operating hours on Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.  and on second, fourth and fifth Saturday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The MBAM HOTLINE is aimed at gathering immediate feedback which would be used to formulate proper action to be taken and also to alert other MBAM members as well as the public.  Such information and data will also be related to CIDB and other related agencies.  All information provided will be treated with strictest of confidence and the hotline can be reached effective 2^nd May 2008 at: 1300-880-248. 

Mr Patrick Wong, MBAM President said “The serious increase in building materials prices and shortage of essential building materials in particular for steel bars  has made it crucial for the Association to not only gather information from members but also the general public on the said matter. We hope to be able to collect timely and accurate information so that we can provide feedback to CIDB and various other government agencies in order to respond to the issues quickly. At present, we are keen to identify the various patterns of complaints regarding building materials issues from the industry and by having an open MBAM Hotline we hope the general public will be keen to share issues pertaining to building materials shortages and price increases with MBAM.” 

MBAM Hotline is also part of the Association’s continuous effort to identify and study problems arising in the construction industry to discuss and explore solutions with the relevant Government authorities and professional institutions.
