WELCOME TO MBAM OFFICIAL WEBSITE First of all, I would like to wish you a warm welcome to the website of Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM). There are several issues I would like to highlight in my message as per the following: MBAM and the Singapore Contractors Association Limited “Construction Business Mission to Bangkok, Thailand” scheduled to be held from 8th to 10th October 2009 with the objective to enable delegates to gain better understanding of the Thai’s property and construction market opportunities as well as to obtain contacts for potential business opportunities. Besides meeting with contractors from Singapore and Thailand, delegates will also able to meet and get contact with our counterpart from Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam as we are invited for their participation. THE 34TH IFAWPCA MIDTERM EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING, MALDIVES The Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI), the latest member of IFAWPCA will be hosting the 34th International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Association (IFAWPCA) Midterm Executive Board Meeting on 14th October 2009 (Wednesday) at the Bandos Island Resort & Spa, Maldives. In conjunction with the meeting, MACI has arranged a forum on “Business Opportunities in Maldives” on 13th October 2009 (Tuesday) to enable members to obtain first hand information on business opportunities in Maldives. 18TH MALAYSIA SKILLS COMPETITION (MSC) PLANT OPERATION-OPEN CATEGORY ON 22ND OCTOBER 2009 CIDB and MBAM will jointly organise the 18th Malaysia Skills Competition (MSC) Plant Operation-Open Category on 22nd October 2009 at Sungai Long industries Sdn Bhd in Batu 113/4, Jalan Hulu Langat, 43100 Hulu Langat, Selangor. The competition is made possible with the support and sponsorship of Sungai Long Industries Sdn. Bhd., UMW Equipment Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Mobile Crane Owners Association and Malaysian Indian Contractors’ Association and Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB). This year’s competition will see competition in three (3) skills categories namely: Mobile Crane Operations (25 tonnes) Excavator Operations Motor Grader Operations Malaysian citizens that are formally registered with CIDB can participate in the competition by downloading the form from www.mbam.org.my. Closing date for the competition is Friday, 2nd October 2009. The various categories offers RM1,500.00, RM1000.00, RM500.00 and consolation prizes of RM200.00 for winning participants who will also receive certificates of achievement. MALAYSIAN CONSTRUCTION SUMMIT ON 10TH NOVEMBER 2009 The theme of this year’s Malaysian Construction Summit is “Construction Industry - Catalyst for Economic Growth.” The theme is timely as construction industry players are very concerned regarding the growth and sustainability of the construction industry in 2010 and beyond. The event is scheduled on 10th November 2009 (Tuesday) Pyramid 1, Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, PJ and we hope MBAM members will endeavor to support this grand event which will is expected to receive a lot of participation from other trade associations and Government institutions.
